B.A.D. Ride XI... Spread the Word!
It was really great seeing so many of you at the Spring Supershow a
few weeks ago. We appreciate all of the kind words of support that you
shared with us. Some of you asked how the Ride got re-energized for
2008. Here's the story: One of our most committed sponsors for
the past several years has been Riders Plus Insurance. You'll
know them best for the distinctive bike bandanas, donated by them, that
have been an important symbol for the B.A.D. Ride. Doug Davis and Mike
Babineau of Riders Plus approached us in the late fall offering to get
more involved in order to help us keep building on the legacy of the
first 10 rides. To quote them directly, "For us it is an extremely
important event, as we know the money raised saves lives and that is
what it is all about." Distress Centres is extremely pleased to
acknowledge the leadership demonstrated by Mike and Doug as the two
new co-chairs. We're also grateful to so many of the original
team members who have continued working as part of a new hybrid team
to produce this great event!
There
still seems to be a little confusion out there, though, about the fact
that we're really back. We'd appreciate your support in
making sure that the word continues to get out. Not only are we back,
but the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum is going to be an exciting
finish to a ride on all new back roads! Participation includes a tour
of the museum with lots of exciting pieces of aviation history to explore.
We're
really excited to be able to do our next test run of the route from
the back of a motorcycle. We've driven it in a car many times
during the past several months and it's been a great drive every
time... it will be an even better ride on a two-wheeler! The official
comfort stop at the Mohawk Inn comes just at the right time en route
and offers everything that you need while you stretch your legs. Stop
by our new sponsor, the Neal Brothers Foods' tent and help them celebrate
20 years by feasting on their tasty homegrown snacks! After 20 years
in the food business they know how to calm a growling hunger on the
road!
Although participants can register right up until B.A.D. Ride Day, May
25th, May 9th is the official cut-off day for pre-registration and the
chance to double your draw tickets. Who wouldn't want to win the
2008 Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary Limited Edition Sportster? Judging
by the reaction we got at our show booth, where the bike was displayed,
it's a beauty! You can still keep collecting donations and increase
your tickets after that date, but anything received beforehand does
double your chances. Register online now (www.thebadride.com)
or mail to the address indicated on the pledge portion of the brochure.
Registration is $75 for rider and $75 per passenger... a slight increase,
but well worth it. Remember...
100% of donations are tax receipted.
