Ten Wheels Up For Grabs At B.A.D. Ride Ten
Everything is coming together quite nicely with B.A.D. Ride Ten
taking place in just over three weeks. Our B.A.D. Team, having
worked the various motorcycle shows in the past month, have now
turned their attention to ensuring that B.A.D. Ride Ten on Sunday
May 27th will be the biggest, baddest and best B.A.D. Ride ever.
BE READY TO BID AT OUR LIVE AUCTION
Some of you may remember we had a live auction several years ago
where we had two wheels (our B.A.D. Scooter) go to the highest
bidder. Well, for B.A.D. Ride Ten we'll have 8 wheels for you to
bid on immediately before the winning tickets for the grand prize
Harley Davidson 2007 FLHX Street Glide are drawn. That's right,
B.A.D. Ride Ten will be sending 10 wheels home with our riders.
Our live auction will begin with two wheels -- a new Haro V1 model
mountain bicycle -- followed by four wheels -- the Daymak "Ronin",
a 150 cc replica of the futuristic concept Tomahawk. Our final two
wheels at the auction are on a classic vintage PK 50 Vespa scooter,
reminiscent of the ones seen on Italian streets in the movie Roman
Holiday!
So, come prepared not only to browse and bid at our superb silent
auction, but be ready to raise your hand to catch the auctioneer's
attention to secure a set of either two or four wheels at the live
auction, and if you're holding the right ticket, take a 2007 Street
Glide home.
RIDERS' PARTY AT EXHIBITION PLACE
Not only will we have the fabulous barbecued burgers and sausages
together with some outstanding salads and plenty of cold drinks
ready for our riders, we've also arranged to have a number of
different activities and exhibits to pique your interests. By the
way, those riders who have raised a minimum of $1,000.00 (and as of
today, there are 17 we know about) for the B.A.D. Ride will be
treated to a barbecue steak dinner, designated parking, and a
number of other extras.
The motorcycle manufacturers will be at the Riders' Party, and so
will Shawna Aron, the two-time Canadian Women's Roadrace Champion,
with her Yamaha R6 racebike no. 169. If you're into custom bikes,
you'll want to see what some of our top bike builders have
produced. They will put their works of art (is there a better
description for some magnificent custom bikes?) on display inside
at the Riders' Party, so keep an eye out for them. We're also
going to have two top Canadian women professional billiard players
putting on a trick shot exhibition as well as permitting pool
sharks to "Challenge the Pro".
The Toronto Police Winged Wheels Precision Motorcycle Team will be
demonstrating what a highly skilled rider can actually do on a
Harley, and our Photo Tent where riders can have their pictures
taken with their bikes will be there too.
PRE-REGISTRATION DEADLINE APPROACHING FAST
Just a reminder, the pre-registration deadline, which gives you
DOUBLE the draw tickets, is very soon -- May 12th!
Our e-registration website has become quite a hit, with 97 people
already having registered online! Remember, however, even though
one is registered online to collect donations, each registration,
in order to be effective, must have a minimum of $50.00 donated to
the B.A.D. Ride. You can also pre-register by mail by sending your
registration form and the funds collected to Distress Centres, Box
243, Adelaide P.O, Toronto ON, M5C 2J4. Any person sending a
pre-registration form in an envelope postmarked on or before May
12, 2007 will double their draw tickets. Any money raised on the
website on or before May 12, 2007 will also entitle the registrant
to double draw tickets.
If you're going to increase your chances to win the grand prize
2007 Street Glide, now is the time to collect funds for Distress
Centres and register for B.A.D. Ride 10.
HERO CERTIFIED BURGER B.A.D. AFTERNOON
Hero Certified Burger and the B.A.D. Ride are once again joining
together for a B.A.D. afternoon Sunday May 13th at the newest Hero
Certified Burger location at 6085 Creditview Road, in Mississauga,
between 1 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Anyone who pre-registers for the
B.A.D. Ride at that store will not only double their draw tickets
(it's like having your envelope post-marked May 12th!) they will
also receive a free upgrade to a milkshake if they buy a combo
meal.
If you have not pre-registered by mail or via our website by May
12th, or don't get out to the Creditview Hero Certified Burger in
Mississauga between 1 and 4:30 on Sunday afternoon May 13th, you
can still pre-register and receive one bonus draw ticket by coming
to the biker barbecue and blues bash at the Silver Dollar Room on
Thursday evening May 24th, starting at 7 p.m.
OPP MOTORCYCLE SEMINAR --SATURDAY MAY 5TH
Once again this year, the OPP is holding a motorcycle rider
refresher seminar this Saturday, May 5th. Several members of the
B.A.D. Team attended last year, and some of us will be going this
year again. It's taking place at OPP Headquarters in Orillia on
Memorial Drive. The OPP, as a supporter of the B.A.D. Ride, will
have space available for the B.A.D. Ride to display our B.A.D. Ride
X poster and registration forms.
It is necessary to pre-register for the OPP Motorcycle Seminar.
For more information and to register, visit the OPP website at:

SPREADING THE WORD
As riders, we learn about what's a good ride or a worthwhile event
from other riders, because we trust what other riders tell us. If
you've been to a previous B.A.D. Ride, then you know we do our best
to have a first rate safe, fun, interesting and enjoyable event.
If you don't want to approach your friends, neighbours, colleagues
or family to make a donation supporting you on the B.A.D. Ride, we
understand. And we value the contribution made by our riders who
register with the minimum $50 or $100 (if they have a passenger) to
join the ride. Whether you're a major fundraiser, or come in at
the minimum, we at the B.A.D. Ride appreciate your support. Either
way, we do ask that you tell other riders about the B.A.D. Ride,
encourage them to visit us at our website www.thebadride.com, and,
most importantly, to register and join you and us on our 10th
B.A.D. Ride.
We can now confirm riding season is really here, with the sun
rising early, the roads warming up, and the B.A.D. Ride happening
this month. See you on the road. Ride safely!
